Social Apostolate

Social Apostolate

“Truly I say to you whatever you did to one of these least brothers of mine, you did it to me” (Mt 25/40)

Integrating prayer life with various apostolic activities has always been at the core of our value system. Today more than ever we need to take a closer look at the problem faced by our families and society, and redefine our social apostolate. Our province has adopted various measures to reach out to the poor and the marginalized. The Christu Raj Social Service Society functioning very effectively under the province coordinates all the activities of the social apostolate, providing us various opportunities to share the compassionate love of Jesus with our less fortunate fellowmen.

The following are the main areas of our Social Apostolate:

  • Housing schemes with the support of the government.
  • Financial aid to the needy for education, medical treatment, marriage etc.
  • A small-scale cottage industry at Muttam for the local unemployed women.
  • Free boardings for girls from poor families, to continue their education. (Anns-Bhavan Cheenkallel, Nirmal Bhavan- Kanjiramattom)
  • Old age homes at Rose Bhavan, Cheenkallel and Poovakulam.
  • Don Bosco Poor Home (owned by the diocese of Pala, managed by SABS sisters)
  • Christu Raj Counselling Centre, where regular counselling courses are conducted for lay people, and counselling is provided for family members, students teenagers…
