Healing Ministry
“And he sent them to proclaim the kingdom of god and to heal the sick” (Lk 9/2)
Our dedicated services in the healing ministry are motivated by the life of Jesus himself, who went around doing good and healing the sick during his life time. Life is a precious gift from God and it is worth living from conception to natural death. We see the Eucharistic Lord in the faces of the physically, mentally, and spirituality wounded, and provide them the compassionate healing touch of Jesus, thereby helping them to regain health and total well-being. Our selfless services in the healing ministry is considered a reflection of the love of the Eucharistic Lord we experience in His presence, and it enables us to draw all to the Eucharist which is the refuge of the weak, the bread of life and the health of the sick. The strength we gain from the daily Holy Mass and adoration is shared with all those who are in need of holistic healing, and thus make our ministry a continuous adoration.
Our sisters work in hospitals, mobile clinics, dispensaries, and primary health centres to cater to the needs of the various sections of the society. And we work in various capacities, such as administrators, doctors, staff nurses, paramedical staff, pharmacists, lab technicians, X-ray technicians, etc. Outreach programs, mobile clinics, and medical camps are arranged for the benefit of people in rural areas. Devamatha Hospital, Koothattukulam, is owned and managed by the province, where a number of our sisters are engaged in various sections of the healing ministry. Besides, our sisters render active service in the Holy Ghost mission hospital, Muttuchira, owned by the diocese of Pala.
Sisters working in the mission areas take special care to give all possible help to the villagers where medical facilities are not available. Besides, health awareness classes and extension camps are conducted in remote village areas. Pain and palliative care units are attached to some of our hospitals. In certain parishes, home care is provided to bed ridden patients, by dressing their wounds, giving them bath etc. Sisters who are engaged in home care ministry prepare these patients for receiving sacraments also.
