Formation

Formation of candidates who aspire to become members of our congregation is a major area which requires careful planning and prayerful evaluation. Sisters who have an aptitude for theological studies and formation of young minds are chosen for this special call and given the required training in formative spirituality, psychology, initiation to prayer life etc. The selected candidates are given one year Aspirancy to examine the genuineness of their interest in religious life, one year Postulancy to study the fundamentals of religious life which is followed by a two year Novitiate where they are given a deeper orientation towards consecrated life with classes on the constitution of the congregation, interior life and the various apostolic activities undertaken by the SABS congregation. On completion of the two year Novitiate where they practice more silence and solitude, a reflective mind, deeper prayer life, they receive the religious habit and make their first profession as members of the congregation. The final profession will be made only after another five years of study, secular or theological and a five months ‘Pranidhan’ experience at the Generalate of the congregation, which is situated in Aluva, Kerala.

Faith Formation

Faith formation aims at transmitting the invaluable gift of faith that we have received. Formal and informal means are employed to deepen Christian values and knowledge of the Sacred Scripture in our youngsters as well as the elderly faithful. Our active involvement in parish ministry and religious instruction classes enable us to impart knowledge of Jesus and scripture to the faithful. Due importance is given to Sunday school classes and the training of altar boys. Besides, the dynamic leadership given to the various pious associations are effective means to promote Christian values and a life centred around the Eucharist.
